The Arrival of Arrivals Week!!!

So here it is…the first of the three week phase of Freshers, Arrivals Week. The week when the masses of first years (‘Freshers’) and international students arrive on campus with their parents and their life belongings to start their journey through Higher Education.

I remember it well (believe it or not!) and its certainly a hectic time!! Coming to University for the first time, for some the first time away from the parental home and being bombarded with information from the University, the SU and all of the companies vying for your business – it all happens at this time of year. And on top of all that you have the job of speaking to pretty much all new people and having to make friends all over again – which can be quite daunting – but a great experience and a great social learning curve.

So this week has been as hectic as them all really, to read what I have been up to feel free to check out my official report by clicking here.

You can also read my on line blog at The Evening Herald by clicking here (my on-line blog and the bit in print this Friday is the same this week).

The reason for the picture at the top, if you don’t already know, is that the UPSU Freshers’ Angels are in full swing, all out helping in any way that they can – they’re all doing a great job and I’m sure I speak for all at UPSU by saying that we are truly grateful for the work that they all do and the positive image that they represent for UPSU and all of its members.

I’m going to leave it there for now because its now 7:39PM on a Friday night and its just too sad, even for me, to be still in the office working.

As always, any questions to president@upsu.comor come and say hi (I’m going to stop for a few Plymouth GnTs in the Union on my way out so do say hello!).

All the best,

Darren
